Roles & Responsibilities:
The Teaching Assistant will focus heavily on support and welfare duties:
Behaviour Support: Implement individual behaviour plans (BIPs) with consistency, working 1:1 with pupils who require intensive emotional regulation support.
Early Intervention: Lead small group sessions focused on synthetic phonics (e.g., Letters and Sounds) to boost foundational literacy skills.
Personal Care: Assist with the personal care needs of pupils, ensuring dignity and adherence to health and safety protocols.
Resource Adaptation: Modify learning resources under teacher guidance to make them accessible and engaging for pupils with low engagement levels.
Playtime Supervision: Maintain a calm and engaging environment during unstructured times, promoting fair play and social development.
Communication: Maintain professional communication with the Class Teacher regarding specific behavioral triggers or successes observed daily.
Requirements
The school seeks an applicant who demonstrates:
Qualification: NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning is highly desirable.
Experience: Recent, verifiable experience managing challenging behaviour in a primary setting.
Soft Skills: High levels of patience, resilience, and a genuine passion for early years and Key Stage 1 development.
Training (Preferred): Knowledge or certification in Team Teach or similar de-escalation training.
Compliance: Must possess a current Enhanced DBS check registered on the Update Service.
