Support and Protect Team - Workington
Social Worker
£45 per hour + £100 expenses per week
Duties
- Section 17 & 47 Investigations: Conducting comprehensive assessments under the Children Act 1989. This involves investigating allegations of harm and determining if a child is "in need" or at risk of "significant harm."
- Risk Management: Completing detailed risk assessments to ensure safeguarding principles are upheld and identifying when immediate protective action is required
- Child in Need (CIN): Coordinating support services for families to prevent issues from escalating.
- Child Protection Plans (CPP): Managing cases where children are subject to protection plans, including leading Core Groups and attending Child Protection Conferences.
- Public Law Outline (PLO) & Court Work: Initiating pre-proceedings (PLO) and representing the local authority in court for care proceedings when children cannot safely remain at home
- Voice of the Child: Actively listening to and championing the child's perspective to ensure their wishes and feelings inform every decision and care plan.
- Relationship Building: Engaging directly with children and families to build trust and foster positive behavioural changes within the home.
- Working alongside the Police, Health Services, Education, and the Legal Team to provide holistic support.
- Participating in "duty weeks" (typically office-based for 5 days every 6-7 weeks) to handle urgent incoming cases.
Qualifications and requirements
- Social work qualification
- Registered with SWE
- Full Driving License
