The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Social Worker to join our Support and Protect Team based in Workington. This team is at the forefront of safeguarding, working with children and families to accurately identify needs and ensure appropriate services are provided at the right time to achieve the best possible outcomes.
Working Pattern & Model [Non-Negotiable]
This role offers a structured hybrid working model designed to balance frontline presence with administrative flexibility:
Standard Weeks: 3 days office-based in Workington / 2 days remote.
Duty Weeks: Every 5th week is a Duty Week, requiring you to be 100% office-based for the full week to manage emergency intake and triage.
Working Hours: 37 hours per week.
Note: No condensed hours are available for this position.
Key Responsibilities
Risk Management: Respond to risk and understand how to effectively prioritize safeguarding and support needs for children and families.
Case Management: Undertake complex assessments and deliver person-centered support for children in need and those subject to child protection plans.
Relationship Building: Use active listening and communication to build strong, trusting relationships with children, families, and carers.
Multi-Agency Collaboration: Work collaboratively with health partners, police, and community groups to deliver faceted services that meet identified needs.
Accurate Record Keeping: Maintain high-quality, analytical reports and case records that clearly identify the "child's voice" and support decision-making rationale.
Essential Requirements [Non-Negotiable]
Qualifications: A recognized Social Work Degree (BA/BSc, MA/MSc, or PGDip).
Registration: Current, valid registration with Social Work England.
Experience: Proven experience in statutory children's services, specifically within child protection or safeguarding hubs.
Clearances: An Enhanced DBS check with Children's and Adults Barred List checks.
Mobility: A full UK driving license and access to a vehicle for travel within the designated area.
