£90 - £95 per day
Thetford
Are you ready to be the difference-maker for a child who sees the world through a different lens?
Do you have the emotional resilience to stay calm when things get challenging and the heart to celebrate the "tiny" victories that are actually huge milestones?
We are looking for a compassionate and proactive SEN Teaching Assistant to join a dedicated SEN School in Thetford. This is a full-time, long-term role where you will support students with a range of complex needs, including Autism (ASC), Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), and social-emotional challenges. In this environment, your personality is just as important as your experience.
Your Daily Impact: Responsibilities
In a Thetford specialist setting, you aren't just helping with schoolwork; you are helping a child navigate their day safely and successfully:
- 1:1 Learning Scaffolding: Adapt classroom tasks into manageable, sensory-friendly activities that match the student's cognitive level and attention span.
- Communication Support: Assist non-verbal or pre-verbal students using Widgit Symbols, Makaton, or PECS to ensure they can express their choices and feelings.
- Sensory Regulation: Identify early signs of sensory overload and guide students to "calm-down" zones or sensory circuits to help them self-regulate.
- EHCP Milestone Tracking: Work with the Class Teacher to observe and record progress toward the social, physical, and academic goals in a student's Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP).
- Personal Care & Wellbeing: Provide essential support with mobility, meal times, and personal care, ensuring every student's dignity and comfort are prioritised.
What You'll Bring to the Team
- Unshakeable Patience: You understand that progress in SEN can be a slow journey, and you are happy to provide the consistent support needed.
- A Proactive Mindset: You can anticipate a student's needs before they become a frustration, acting quickly to keep the environment positive.
- Adaptability: You can switch between different support styles-from high-energy engagement to quiet, low-arousal observation-depending on the student's needs.
- Relevant Background: Experience in care, youth work, mental health, or previous school support is highly valued, but a "can-do" attitude is essential.
- Compliance: An enhanced Child DBS on the Update Service (or a willingness to process a new one via Randstad).
Why Choose Randstad?
- Competitive Daily Pay: £90 - £95 per day via our transparent PAYE system.
- Consistency: The security of a full-time, term-time schedule in a local Thetford school.
- Specialist CPD: Access free, certified training in Team Teach, Autism Awareness, and Safeguarding Level 3.
- Direct Support: A dedicated consultant (Neeraj) who will support you from your first interview to your first day and beyond.
- Referral Bonus: Earn £300 for every friend you successfully refer to the Randstad family!
