This role offers the opportunity to work in a school that prioritises practical, hands-on learning. Whether your specialism is Biology, Chemistry, or Physics, you will deliver high-quality lessons across KS3 and KS4 (Core and Triple Science). For candidates with a strong subject-specific background, there are also opportunities to teach your specialism at A-Level.
Key Responsibilities
... - Practical Learning: Plan and lead safe, engaging laboratory experiments that bring theoretical concepts to life.
- Curriculum Delivery: Teach a broad Science curriculum at KS3 and specialised GCSE content, ensuring students understand complex biological systems, chemical reactions, and physical laws.
- Exam Preparation: Guide Year 11 students through their GCSE exams (AQA/Edexcel), focusing on required practicals and scientific inquiry skills.
- Safety First: Maintain rigorous Health & Safety standards within the lab, working closely with the Science Technician team.
- Differentiation: Adapt complex scientific theories to suit all learning styles, from supporting students with SEN to stretching high-ability Triple Science cohorts.
Requirements
- Qualifications: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or QTLS. Applications from talented ECTs are encouraged.
- Subject Knowledge: A degree in a Science-based subject (Biology, Chemistry, Physics, or Biomedical Sciences).
- Communication: The ability to explain abstract concepts (like atomic structure or electromagnetism) in a clear and relatable way.
- Classroom Management: Strong presence and the ability to maintain a safe, focused environment during practical work.
- Compliance: An enhanced Child DBS on the Update Service.
