Are you passionate about the social structures that shape our world? Do you have a "fierce determination" to challenge educational disadvantage?
We are seeking a dedicated and inspiring Teacher of Sociology to join a high-performing Academy and Sixth Form team. This is a rare opportunity to work in a "knowledge-rich" environment where subjects are front and center, and your expertise dictates the pedagogy.
Whether you are looking for a Full-Time or Part-Time role, we advocate for flexible working and are committed to helping you balance your professional ambitions with your personal life.
The Role & Environment
In this role, you won't just be teaching; you'll be broadening horizons. You will join a community that takes students beyond their everyday experiences, helping them see the world through a sociological lens.
Salary: £36,000 - £48,000 per annum (including performance & loyalty bonuses).
Location: Rainham / Havering area.
Contract: Permanent, Flexible (Full-Time or Part-Time applications welcome).
Why This Academy is Different
We believe that teachers thrive when they are supported, not just managed. Our culture is built on:
Meaningful Workload Management: Enjoy an early finish on Fridays, no graded observations, and sensible feedback policies-no onerous marking requirements here.
Firm but Fair Behaviour: We use consistent routines, allowing you to focus on what you do best: teaching.
Professional Growth: Benefit from bespoke pathways via a dedicated Institute of Teaching and Leadership. As the school develops its Sixth Form, the opportunities for career progression are immense.
What We Are Looking For
We want a strong communicator who can motivate a diverse student body and engage with the wider community. You should possess:
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a relevant undergraduate degree.
Experience teaching at the secondary level (11-18 preferred), ideally within multi-ethnic urban environments.
A deep understanding of KS3 and KS4 National Curriculum requirements.
The ability to create a safe, motivating, and innovative learning environment (ICT savvy/Interactive Whiteboard skills are a plus!).
A collaborative spirit and a commitment to high expectations for every student.
The Benefits Package
Competitive Pay: Includes a specialized allowance (typically £1,500 - £2,000).
Financial Rewards: Performance and Loyalty Bonus schemes.
Wellbeing First: Teachers' Pension Scheme, a Wellbeing Cash Plan, and an Employee Assistance Programme.
Leading Edge Research: Work at the forefront of educational thinking and research-driven practice.
