The Opportunity:
Are you an experienced, dynamic, and resilient Social Work Manager with a passion for frontline children's safeguarding? Bradford Council is seeking a dedicated Team Manager to lead our busy and fast-paced Duty & Assessment Team. This is a crucial leadership role where you will drive high standards of practice, provide expert supervision, and make critical decisions that ensure the immediate safety and well-being of children in Bradford.
Key Responsibilities:
As a Team Manager for the Duty & Assessment Team, you will:
Provide strong, authoritative, and compassionate leadership to a team of social workers, fostering a culture of high performance and accountability.
Oversee and quality assure all aspects of practice within the team, including screening referrals, conducting Section 47 enquiries, and multi-agency assessments.
Hold overall accountability for the management of complex and high-risk cases, ensuring statutory compliance, timely interventions, and effective risk management.
Provide regular, high-quality reflective supervision, coaching, and performance management to team members, supporting their professional development.
Collaborate effectively with professionals in our Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH), police, health, and education to ensure a coordinated and timely response to referrals.
Ensure the team's work is child-centred and family-focused, and that the voices of children and their families are consistently heard and inform all decision-making.
Manage resources effectively, ensuring the efficient allocation of cases and optimal deployment of staff.
Contribute to service development and strategic planning, helping to shape the future of our frontline services.
What We Are Looking For:
A qualified Social Worker with current registration with Social Work England.
3 years post-qualifying experience in children's social work, with demonstrable experience in a management or senior practitioner role within a Duty, Assessment, or MASH team.
Expert knowledge of legislation, policy, and best practice relating to children's safeguarding, including Working Together to Safeguard Children.
Exceptional leadership, management, and organisational skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team.
Strong analytical skills, capable of critical thinking, complex decision-making, and effective risk management.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, able to build effective relationships with diverse stakeholders.
The ability to manage high workloads, prioritise effectively, and work under pressure in a dynamic environment.
A valid UK driving license and access to a vehicle for work purposes across the district.
