THRIVE Practitioner: Foundational Role in New SEND Secondary School (Surrey)
An established specialist education group is launching a brand-new, purpose-built Special Educational Needs (SEND) Secondary School in Redhill. We are seeking a dedicated and experienced THRIVE Practitioner to join our team at the start of this exciting journey and ensure every student has the emotional foundation for success.
The Opportunity & Salary
This is a permanent, full-time, term-time only role vital to the school's core mission of supporting young people with social communication, emotional regulation, and sensory processing needs, typically associated with Autism (Ages 11-16).
Actual Salary - £27,713 - £30,250 (Dependent on Qualifications) + Welcome Bonus £2,000 for candidates with relevant SEN Experience*
Location - Redhill, Surrey
Hours - 40 hours per week, Term-Time Only (Mon-Fri 8:15 AM - 4:00/5:00 PM)
The Role: Supporting Emotional Development
As the THRIVE Practitioner, your main purpose is to manage and deliver the THRIVE provision, working closely with the Pastoral Lead and SENDCo. Your focus will be on addressing the developmental, social, emotional, and behavioural needs of students to improve their active engagement in both social and academic environments.
Key Responsibilities
...THRIVE Delivery: Support the day-to-day running of the THRIVE provision, ensuring effective supervision, and implementing timetables, plans, and strategies.
Targeted Intervention: Deliver 1:1, small group, and class group sessions using play and arts-based enjoyable experiences that focus on learning through experience.
Assessment and Feedback: Conduct regular THRIVE assessments, create up-to-date action plans, and provide accurate and objective feedback to staff and parents on pupils' developmental, social, and emotional progress.
Positive Culture: Actively promote inclusive practice across the school, raise the profile of positive solutions for learners at risk, and act as a positive role model.
Supervision and Training: Supervise other staff working with children's emotional development and contribute to delivering staff training to embed the THRIVE Approach model.
Candidate Profile
Essential Qualifications & Experience
Minimum GCSE Maths and English Language (Grade 4 or equivalent).
Relevant knowledge and experience working with pupils with SEN, ADHD, and Autism (ASD), including those with challenging behaviour.
Strong understanding of Safeguarding principles and Child Protection procedures.
Knowledge of children's social and emotional development and attachment theory.
Experience of supervising groups of pupils.
Desirable Attributes
THRIVE training or a willingness to immediately undertake practitioner training.
Experience in running nurture groups or social skills groups.
Norfolk Steps or Team Teach training, or willingness to complete training.
