Therapeutic Engagement: Using play-based approaches (e.g., Attention Autism, Intensive Interaction, or similar methods) to develop shared attention, turn-taking, and social interaction skills.
Emotional Regulation: Building a strong, trusting relationship to help the student feel safe, manage anxiety, and successfully navigate transitions without becoming dysregulated.
Bespoke Learning: Delivering tailored, 1:1 sessions focusing on foundational literacy, numeracy, and problem-solving through hands-on, engaging, and highly visual activities.
Essential Requirements
To be eligible for this high-impact role, you must meet the following criteria:
SEN Experience (Non-Negotiable): Proven, significant experience working directly with children who have Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and high levels of anxiety or Emotionally Based School Avoidance (EBSA).
Therapeutic Skillset: Experience utilizing therapeutic or specialized play techniques (e.g., Intensive Interaction, TEACCH, Identiplay) to facilitate engagement and communication.
Qualifications: A strong background in education or specialized support (e.g., QTS, experienced HLTA, or relevant qualification in SEN/Child Development).
