Are you a passionate and dedicated Year 1 Teacher looking for a rewarding new role in Caterham? We are seeking an enthusiastic educator to join our thriving and supportive primary school. This is a fantastic opportunity for a teacher with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and at least one year of experience to inspire a love of learning in our young students.
About the Role:
As a Year 1 Teacher, you will be responsible for creating a nurturing, engaging, and inclusive classroom environment. You will plan and deliver creative lessons that cater to a diverse range of learning needs, fostering both academic and personal development. This role is crucial in managing the important transition from the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) to the more structured learning of Key Stage 1.
Key Responsibilities:
Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality lessons in line with the Year 1 national curriculum.
Utilise differentiated instruction to meet the individual needs of all students.
Deliver systematic phonics instruction using schemes such as Letters and Sounds or Read Write Inc.
Lead engaging guided reading sessions to develop early literacy skills.
Integrate play-based learning to create a stimulating and effective learning environment.
Implement positive classroom management strategies to ensure a safe and respectful atmosphere.
Monitor, assess, and report on student progress, providing constructive feedback to students and parents.
Collaborate with colleagues, parents, and the wider school community to support student success.
Qualifications and Experience:
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is essential.
A minimum of one year of teaching experience, preferably within Year 1 or Key Stage 1.
Proven experience and a strong understanding of the primary curriculum, particularly for Year 1.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills.
A genuine commitment to creating a positive, supportive, and stimulating classroom for young learners.
