Pastor Maldonado secured the Williams F1 Team’s sixth Spanish Grand Prix win this weekend following an exceptional performance by the Venezuelan driver. Maldonado fought off tough competition from Alonso to successfully give the team their first win since 2004. Huge congratulations to Pastor, on his first ever Grand Prix win, and to all of his teammates too. We’re always proud to sponsor the Williams F1 Team – but we are especially proud after the fantastic win in Barcelona. Congratulations to Pastor Maldonado, Sir Frank Williams and all involved! We also wish those injured in the pit fire post-race a speedy recovery.
The race proved more challenging for Bruno Senna, who was knocked out of the race by Schumacher. Michael Schumacher has since been hit with a five-place grid penalty for the next race following the collision. Not to be defeated, Maldonado’s win and the car’s pace will fill Senna with confidence for the race ahead. The team now begins preparations for the Monaco Grand Prix at the end of May. The team will be looking to secure more points to drive Williams F1 further up the Constructors’ Championship. Williams F1 is now 6th overall with 43 points.
Unfortunatley shortly after the race, a fire occurred in the team’s garage. Unfortunately four team members were injured and taken to the medical centre. The team members are receiving the best possible care and we wish them well on their road to recovery. We know they’ll want to be back in the pits before the famous Monaco race.
