Assessment & Examinations Support Assistant
We are seeking a highly organised and meticulous Assessment Support Assistant to play a crucial role in the preparation, secure delivery, and administration of formal assessments and examinations.
This is a fast-paced role ideal for someone who can maintain a calm and professional presence in a high-pressure environment, ensuring all assessments adhere strictly to University regulations.
Contract Length: 12 Weeks (Temporary)
Pay Rate: £12.90per hour
Working Hours: 37 hours per week
Location: Birmingham, B4 7BD (Hybrid - On-site during exams)
Start Date: ASAP
Key Responsibilities
The role requires strong administrative skills across digital platforms and physical exam settings:
- Digital Assessment Preparation: Set up assessments accurately within the online exam platform, upload exam papers and supporting materials following secure procedures, and perform pre-exam checks to ensure systems and content are fully functional.
- Exam Invigilation: Support the running of on-site exams by ensuring rooms are prepared, checking student identification, delivering clear instructions, and monitoring students throughout the session to maintain integrity. This includes accurately recording attendance, timekeeping, and incidents.
- Administrative Duties: Respond efficiently to assessment-related queries from staff and students, maintain accurate digital and paper records, and assist in coordinating exam timetables, room bookings, and logistics.
- Compliance: Liaise with academic and professional services staff to confirm requirements and strictly follow all necessary procedures, confidentiality, and data-protection guidelines.
Skills and Experience Required
We are looking for a reliable, punctual, and detail-oriented professional who possesses:
- Exceptional administrative skills with a high degree of attention to detail.
- The ability to work calmly and professionally during time-sensitive, high-pressure periods.
- Confident communication skills with the capacity to provide clear instructions.
- Familiarity with digital platforms, Microsoft Office, and basic data-entry systems.
- A proven ability to follow strict procedures and maintain confidentiality.
- The flexibility to adapt quickly to changing schedules or last-minute exam needs.
Highly Desirable: Previous experience as an Exam Invigilator or experience within a University/educational assessment office is a significant advantage. Knowledge of academic regulations or experience using digital assessment/learning platforms is a bonus.
