Are you a detail-oriented professional looking to take the next step in your surveying career? We are seeking a motivated Assistant Quantity Surveyor to support high-profile construction and infrastructure projects in Colchester.
In this role, you will be instrumental in ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget by assisting with cost estimation, contract administration, and financial reporting.
Cost & Change Management
Assist in preparing cost estimates, budgets, and financial reports (including Change Reports and Orders).
Monitor project costs and prepare forecasts to maintain effective change control.
Procurement & Contract Administration
Help prepare tender documents, contracts, and procurement schedules.
Support contract negotiations and manage subcontract agreements.
Review and verify contractor claims and variations.
Project Financial Control
Track expenditures to ensure alignment with approved budget allocations.
Prepare interim valuations, draft final accounts, monthly progress reports, and cash flow forecasts.
Assist in risk assessment and value engineering processes.
Compliance & Reporting
Maintain accurate records in line with site security and health & safety standards.
Prepare commercial reports for the Commercial Manager and key project stakeholders.
Education: A degree (or currently working towards one) in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field.
Technical Knowledge: Familiarity with JCT and NEC contracts.
Skills: Strong numerical and analytical abilities with excellent communication skills.
Software: Proficiency in MS Excel; experience with SmartSheet, Asta Powerproject, or MS Project is highly valued.
Desirable: Previous experience on defense or government projects and membership (or interest) in RICS or CIOB.
