Are you a passionate and dedicated Assistant SENCO with a commitment to transforming the lives of young people with Autism?
An innovative and nurturing special school in the Effingham area of Surrey is seeking to appoint an exceptional Assistant SENCO to join our team. We are dedicated to supporting young people with Autism and associated communication and interaction difficulties, and we are looking for a leader to play a pivotal role in shaping the educational journey of our students.
This is a unique opportunity to make a significant impact in a supportive and forward-thinking environment. The successful candidate will be an exemplary practitioner with a deep understanding of the needs of students with Autism. You will be responsible for supporting the SENCO with leading and managing the provision for students with special educational needs, helping to ensure that each student receives the tailored support they need to achieve their full potential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the school's SEN provision.
- Support the day-to-day operation of the SEN policy and co-ordinate provision for students with SEN.
- Liaise with and advise fellow teachers on the effective teaching and learning of students with SEN.
- Monitor student progress and the effectiveness of interventions.
- Work in partnership with parents, carers, and external agencies to ensure a holistic approach to student support.
- Help to maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with the SEND Code of Practice.
- Contribute to the professional development of staff in the area of special educational needs.
We are looking for a candidate who:
- SENCO/Access Arrangement Assessor qualifications preferred, or the desire to acquire these.
- GCSE Maths and English qualification minimum Grade 4 or equivalent is essential
- Teaching qualification preferable but not essential, however teaching qualification is needed to achieve the National Award in SEND Coordination.
