Assistant SENCO Required in Surrey.
We're looking for an enthusiastic and organised Assistant SENCO to join our team. You'll be instrumental in promoting an inclusive approach to special educational needs (SEN) and helping to ensure that every student can reach their full potential.
The Role
You will assist the SENDCo in a variety of key areas:
Student Support: You'll contribute to the annual review process, help with therapeutic interventions outlined in student EHCPs, and communicate effectively with parents and colleagues to ensure student wellbeing.
Leadership & Training: You will help deliver training for teachers and support staff, share good practices in SEN, and stay up-to-date on the latest research and legal developments.
Administration: You'll set up systems for identifying and monitoring student needs and help manage annual reviews for EHCPs. You will also build key relationships with local authority EHCP coordinators and other professionals.
About You
You should have a strong working knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice and relevant, recent experience with students who have SEN. You must be comfortable implementing a range of approaches to behaviour, including managing challenging behaviours.
We're looking for someone with a person-centred approach and a commitment to meeting individual student needs. You should be a collaborative team player with excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently.
While a teaching qualification is preferred, it's not required to apply. However, it is necessary to achieve the National Award in SEND Coordination. You should also have English and Maths to at least Level 2.
You must be eligible to work in the UK and have a satisfactory Enhanced DBS with barred list checks.
We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young adults, and expect all staff to share this commitment.
