Assistant SENCO Required in Surrey.
We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Assistant SENCO to join our team. This role is ideal for a dedicated professional with a strong background in supporting students with Special Educational Needs (SEN) who is ready to take on a leadership role and contribute to whole-school development.
The Role
Reporting to the SENDCo, you will be a key player in promoting an inclusive approach to SEN across the entire school. Your expertise will be vital in several areas:
Case Management & Review: You will set up systems for identifying, reviewing, and monitoring student needs. This includes managing and chairing annual reviews for EHCPs and contributing to the annual review process with the support of an administration assistant.
Professional Leadership: You will support the SENDCo in delivering CPD to all teaching staff and disseminating good practices in SEN across the school. A crucial part of this role is to model good practice for teaching pupils with SEN, including those with more complex needs.
External Liaison: You will build key relationships with Local Authority EHCP Coordinators and other professionals in the field. You will also liaise with outside professionals, manage their reporting, and disseminate this information to staff.
About You
You should have relevant and recent knowledge and experience with pupils with SEN and a sound working knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice. You will have experience implementing a range of approaches to behaviour, including managing behaviours that challenge.
We are looking for a candidate who has a person-centered approach to SEN delivery and a commitment to meeting the individual needs of each pupil. You must be able to work both independently and as part of a team, demonstrating excellent interpersonal skills.
A teaching qualification is preferable but not essential , however, it is needed to achieve the National Award in SEND Coordination. SENCO or Access Arrangement Assessor qualifications are also preferred, or a desire to acquire them. You must have English and Maths to at least Level 2.
