We are seeking a full-time Attendance Officer to join one of our schools in Lichfield as soon as possible on a long-term, ongoing basis. You will be instrumental in improving school attendance by effectively engaging students, families, pastoral teams, and external agencies, using rigorous data analysis to guide and evaluate interventions.
About the SchoolThe school is a mixed secondary school and Sixth Form, part of a supportive multi-academy partnership serving pupils aged 11-18 in the local area. It operates with a clear vision focused on developing students to be Respectful, Ambitious, and Resilient, guided by a set of core behavioural expectations. Following a period of significant strategic investment and transformational change, the school is now experiencing sustained growth in its pupil numbers. The school was chosen to pioneer a national programme that embedded professional social workers directly on-site to provide dedicated early intervention and well-being support for its most vulnerable pupils and their families.
Key ResponsibilitiesAreaFocusAttendanceProactively monitor, track, and analyse attendance data (using Bromcom and other systems) to identify at-risk students and target support groups. Implement and evaluate interventions in conjunction with pastoral teams, staff, and external agencies. Establish positive relationships with families/carers, offering advice and encouraging involvement.AdmissionsMaintain accurate pupil records for all starters and leavers. Participate in the assessment of new students to identify those requiring additional support. Support students and parents during transition phases.SafeguardingBe fully aware of and strictly adhere to Child Protection and Safeguarding policies. Remain vigilant, embed a safeguarding culture, and ensure training compliance.Data ProtectionMaintain a clear understanding of GDPR principles and best practice. Support school compliance and collaborate with the Trust's Data Protection Officers (DPO).Essential Skills and Experience
Exceptional communication skills, including the ability to converse fluently and professionally in accurate spoken English with parents, pupils, and professionals.
Proven emotional resilience and ability to maintain a professional manner when dealing with challenging behaviours and difficult situations.
Knowledge of behavioural management techniques.
High motivation to work with children and young people.
Must have experience working in an attendance role within a school.
Must have an enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one).
