About the Role
An opportunity is available to join a respected, independent transport and engineering company as a Heavy Vehicle Mechanic/Technician. You'll be part of a dynamic team responsible for maintaining and preparing a diverse fleet of vehicles. The work will primarily involve maintenance and repair in our main workshop and contributing to vehicle preparation within our sales conversion workshop. We are looking for a skilled professional with proven experience in heavy vehicle engineering.
Key Responsibilities
Vehicle Maintenance and Repair: Carry out routine servicing, preventative maintenance, and fault diagnosis on heavy vehicles.
Mechanical and Electrical Systems: Perform repairs on engines, gearboxes, braking systems, steering, suspension, and electrical components.
Conversion Support: Assist the workshop team with the preparation, conversion, and modification of vehicles for sale.
Compliance: Ensure all work is completed to the highest safety and quality standards, in line with VOSA/DVSA regulations and company procedures.
Documentation: Accurately complete all job cards, maintenance records, and necessary documentation.
Hours and Salary
Hours: Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM
Salary: £30,000 - £40,000 per annum, dependent on experience and qualifications.
Required Skills and Experience
Formal Training and Experience: You must possess formal training and significant industry experience as a Heavy Vehicle Mechanic or Technician.
Sector Background: Essential experience working with Lorry, HGV, Bus, or Coach vehicles.
Technical Proficiency: Skilled in fault diagnosis, repair, and maintenance across a wide range of heavy vehicle systems.
Tools and Equipment: Proficient in using workshop tools, diagnostic equipment, and testing apparatus.
Safety Focus: A strong commitment to safe working practices and adhering to health and safety procedures.
Desirable Attributes
An industry-recognised qualification (e.g., City & Guilds, NVQ Level 3, or equivalent).
Experience or qualification as an MOT/Annual Test Assistant or similar role.
Possession of an HGV/PCV driving license.
