Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant

We are seeking a Level 1 BSL SEN Teaching Assistant to join a dedicated team in a specialist SEN complex school in Manchester. This role involves providing essential support to students with a range of complex needs, including PMLD, focusing on communication. Responsibilities:
- Support students across various age groups and abilities within the school, including those with ASD,SMLD,MLD and PMLD.
- Facilitate communication using BSL to assist students with hearing impairments.
- Work collaboratively with teachers and therapists to implement IEPs.
- Provide one-on-one and small group support, adapting to the specific learning styles of students.
- Assist with personal care and mobility as required, promoting student independence.
- Contribute to a positive and engaging classroom atmosphere.
- Monitor student progress and provide feedback to teaching staff.
Requirements:
- Hold a BSL Level 1 qualification or proficient as a minimum.
- At least 6 months UK experience working in an SEN or SEN provision mainstream school
- Understanding of various communication strategies for students with complex needs.
- Ability to demonstrate patience, empathy, and resilience.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- A proactive and adaptable approach to supporting students.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
- Possession of a valid enhanced DBS check, or willingness to obtain one.
- Right to work in the UK.
