Child Protection Chair (IRO) - Wakefield Council
Lead and shape child protection decision-making.
Wakefield Council is seeking a highly experienced and skilled Child Protection Chair to work within our Independent Reviewing Officer (IRO) service. This is a crucial leadership role requiring significant expertise in child protection and safeguarding. This role is five days a week, office-based.
About the Role:
Chair Child Protection Conferences (CPCs), providing expert guidance and leadership to multi-agency professionals.

Ensure all CPCs are conducted effectively, efficiently, and in accordance with legislation and best practice.
Make informed decisions regarding the safety and well-being of children, balancing the needs of the child with the rights of the family.
Provide clear, concise, and well-reasoned recommendations for child protection plans.
Monitor the implementation of child protection plans and review progress regularly.
Contribute to the overall strategic development of the IRO service.
Requirements:
Registered with Social Care England.
Minimum 3 years' post-qualification experience as a qualified Social Worker. Significant experience chairing Child Protection Conferences is essential.
In-depth knowledge and understanding of child protection legislation, policies, and procedures.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and decision-making skills.
Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage challenging situations.
