Position: Social Worker - Fieldwork, Children & Families Team
Location: Stockton‑on‑Tees, Borough Council
Rate: £26.66-£27.56 per hour
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct comprehensive assessments of children and families to evaluate risks, needs, and strengths
Develop and implement individualised care plans including Child Protection, Child in Need, and Looked After Children plans-ensuring timely reviews and multi-agency coordination
Execute direct work with children and families; offering support, advocacy, guidance, and practical help
Identify and manage safeguarding concerns, collaborating with statutory partners (e.g., police, health, education) and preparing documentation for legal proceedings as needed

Maintain high-quality records and ensure compliance with the Children Act, Working Together guidance, and local authority policies
Participate in multi-agency meetings (Core Group, CIN/LAC reviews), build partnerships, and represent children's voices in various forums
Essential Requirements:
Recognised social work qualification (DipSW, CQSW, BA/BSc in Social Work) and registration with Social Work England
Experience in direct work with children in need, child protection, or looked-after services, including case management and risk assessment
Strong knowledge of statutory frameworks (Children Act 1989/2004, Working Together etc.)
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills; ability to manage challenging caseloads under pressure
