Are you ready to hit the ground running in a fast-paced, rewarding environment? Midlothian Council is looking for two dedicated, full-time Social Workers to join our frontline Children's Services.
This is a role for practitioners who enjoy variety and are committed to supporting children at every stage of their journey-from initial protection to securing long-term stability.
The Opportunity
We are seeking experienced professionals who can manage a diverse and active caseload. This role offers the chance to work across the full spectrum of statutory children's services, ensuring no two days are the same.

Child Protection: Conducting risk assessments and implementing robust safety plans for children at risk.
Looked After at Home: Supporting children and families where the child remains at home under a Supervision Requirement, focusing on family preservation and positive outcomes.
Permanence: Driving long-term planning for children who require stable, alternative care arrangements.
What We Are Looking For
Availability: Due to the demands of the current service, we require full-time hours only. We are currently unable to accommodate part-time or flexible working patterns for these specific vacancies.
Immediacy: We are looking for practitioners who can start as soon as possible to provide vital support to the team.
Experience: Previous experience in a statutory Children and Families setting is essential.
Requirements
Degree in Social Work (or equivalent).
SSSC Registration (Active and in good standing).
PVG Membership (Children's workforce).
Strong report-writing skills and experience within the Children's Hearing system.
Why Join Midlothian?
Competitive Pay: Exceptional rates of £38 - £40 per hour.
Varied Casework: Gain or sharpen experience across multiple disciplines (CP, LAC, and Permanence) in one role.
Local Impact: Work in a close-knit community where your interventions make a visible difference to local families.
