Role Overview

Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council is seeking an experienced and dedicated Social Worker to join the Children In Our Care Team. This role focuses on delivering high-quality statutory social work to looked-after children, ensuring their safety, stability, and long-term wellbeing.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage a caseload of looked-after children, ensuring their needs are fully assessed and supported through clear, effective care planning.

• Develop, implement, and review care and pathway plans in line with statutory requirements and local procedures.

• Work closely with multi-agency partners (health, education, legal, and other professionals) to ensure cohesive service delivery.

• Attend and contribute to looked-after reviews, permanency planning meetings, and court proceedings where required.

• Maintain high-quality, accurate, and timely case records and reports.

• Provide consistent emotional support and advocacy for children and young people within the care system.

Requirements

• Qualified Social Worker (BA/MA/DipSW) and registered with Social Work England.

• Significant experience in statutory children's social care, ideally within looked-after children teams.

• Strong understanding of relevant legislation, including the Children Act 1989, and experience working to LAC procedures.

• Ability to build trust, communicate effectively, and make sound professional judgments.

• Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities under pressure.
