Role Overview
The Advanced Practitioner is a key member of the Children's Services team, responsible for providing expert practice leadership, supporting colleagues with complex cases, and promoting high-quality social work practice in line with statutory requirements and best practice standards.
Key Responsibilities
Manage a caseload of complex child protection, CIN (Child in Need), or LAC (Looked After Children) cases.
Offer mentoring, supervision, and guidance to less experienced social workers.
Take a lead role in safeguarding and multi-agency planning.
Contribute to audits, service development initiatives, and quality assurance processes.
Promote evidence-based practice and help embed reflective supervision within the team.
Act as a professional lead in court proceedings where required.
Essential Requirements
Qualified Social Worker with current Social Work England registration.
Minimum of 3 years post-qualifying experience in statutory children's services.
Proven ability to manage complex caseloads and deliver positive outcomes for children and families.
Strong leadership, decision-making, and assessment skills.
Knowledge of relevant legislation and statutory guidance (e.g., Children Act 1989, Working Together 2018).
Enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) clearance.
Desirable Attributes
Experience supervising or mentoring junior staff.
Ability to work collaboratively with a range of multi-agency professionals.
Skilled in performance improvement and service delivery evaluation.
