Role Overview

The Advanced Practitioner is a key member of the Children's Services team, responsible for providing expert practice leadership, supporting colleagues with complex cases, and promoting high-quality social work practice in line with statutory requirements and best practice standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage a caseload of complex child protection, CIN (Child in Need), or LAC (Looked After Children) cases.

• Offer mentoring, supervision, and guidance to less experienced social workers.

• Take a lead role in safeguarding and multi-agency planning.

• Contribute to audits, service development initiatives, and quality assurance processes.

• Promote evidence-based practice and help embed reflective supervision within the team.

• Act as a professional lead in court proceedings where required.

Essential Requirements

• Qualified Social Worker with current Social Work England registration.

• Minimum of 3 years post-qualifying experience in statutory children's services.

• Proven ability to manage complex caseloads and deliver positive outcomes for children and families.

• Strong leadership, decision-making, and assessment skills.

• Knowledge of relevant legislation and statutory guidance (e.g., Children Act 1989, Working Together 2018).

• Enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) clearance.

Desirable Attributes

• Experience supervising or mentoring junior staff.

• Ability to work collaboratively with a range of multi-agency professionals.

• Skilled in performance improvement and service delivery evaluation.
