Your Role as a Classroom Champion
Forget monotonous days! As a Classroom Support Assistant, you'll be at the heart of the action, creating a dynamic and supportive learning environment. Your daily mission will include:
Inspiring Learners: You will work with individuals and groups of pupils, including those with special needs, to ensure they can access learning activities. You'll use your creativity to help plan activities and adjust them based on student responses.
Building Positive Relationships: You will establish constructive relationships with pupils based on their individual needs and also build a strong rapport with parents and carers. A key part of your role is to champion the inclusion and acceptance of every single pupil.
Fostering Independence: You will encourage pupils to interact with each other , promote their self-esteem , and help them develop competence and independence in using ICT.
Supporting the Teacher: You will be a vital support to the classroom teacher, providing them with detailed feedback on pupil progress , assisting with displays of work , and helping to manage pupil behaviour in line with school policy. Your administrative skills will also be valued for tasks like photocopying and preparing resources.
What You'll Bring to the Team
We are looking for a candidate who can demonstrate the following essential qualities:
Experience & Qualifications: You have experience working with or caring for children of a relevant age and hold an NVQ 2 for Teaching Assistants, have completed the DfES Teacher Assistant Induction Programme, or have equivalent classroom experience.
Core Skills: You possess good numeracy and literacy skills , are effective in using ICT to support learning , and can relate well to both children and adults.
Essential Knowledge: You have a basic understanding of child development and learning and a general grasp of the national curriculum.
Team Spirit: You are a constructive team player , committed to continuous improvement and willing to participate in training and development.
While not essential, a GCSE in Maths and/or English (Grade A-C) and first aid training would be desirable.
