The Role: Practical Support and Mentorship
We are seeking a Construction Teaching Assistant to provide essential support to teachers and students within both the workshop and classroom settings. You will be fundamental in helping to deliver individualised learning packages, ensuring students are safe, engaged, and progressing towards their potential.
Main Duties:
- Workshop Support: Assist construction teachers in all activities, including preparing, maintaining, and clearing tools, equipment, and materials.
- Skills Guidance: Demonstrate and guide learners in basic construction skills and trade knowledge, reinforcing safe working practices at all times.
- Student Mentorship: Provide 1:1 and group mentoring to help learners stay engaged, build confidence, and progress through assessments and practical competency tests.
- Operational Readiness: Maintain a safe, organised, and well-equipped workshop, including monitoring stock levels and preparing resources and displays.
- Pastoral Care: Support positive behaviour management, pastoral care, and learner wellbeing, liaising with teachers, parents, and other professionals.
- Employability: Accompany learners on site visits, work experience, and industry-related trips to enhance their real-world understanding.
About You: The Proactive and Supportive Assistant
- Organised & Proactive: Highly organised, reliable, and proactive in maintaining a safe and supportive learning environment.
- Practical Interest: Possess experience or a strong interest in construction and a willingness to actively support practical, hands-on learning.
- Soft Skills: Effective communication, organisational, and time-management skills to manage various support tasks.
- Welfare Commitment: Committed to promoting and safeguarding the welfare of all children, and willing to undergo an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Check (DBS) and complete Child Protection Training.
