We are seeking an inspirational and results-driven Qualified Maths Teacher (QTS) to take on the pivotal role of Head of Maths at our partner Secondary School in Ipswich, commencing this September. This is a permanent leadership position for a practitioner who has mastered the classroom and is now ready to shape the strategic direction of an entire faculty. You will be responsible for driving standards, evolving the curriculum, and fostering a culture where both staff and students thrive.
Your Responsibilities
- Strategic Departmental Leadership: Provide a clear, ambitious vision for the Maths faculty, leading and motivating a team of teachers and support staff to deliver consistently high-quality instruction.
- Curriculum Innovation: Oversee the design and implementation of a rigorous KS3-KS5 curriculum that prioritizes deep conceptual understanding and mathematical fluency.
- Standards & Achievement: Take full accountability for student progress and exam outcomes at GCSE and A-Level, utilising sophisticated data analysis to implement rapid, effective interventions.
- Teaching & Learning Mentorship: Conduct regular observations and provide high-quality coaching to your team, ensuring the highest standards of pedagogy are maintained across all classrooms.
- Resource Advocacy: Manage the departmental budget and resources effectively, ensuring the faculty has the tools and technology needed to deliver a 21st-century mathematical education.
- Whole-School Contribution: Work as part of the wider middle leadership team to contribute to school-wide policies and the overall development plan.
What You'll Bring to the Team
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS): Mandatory. A strong degree in Mathematics or a related highly numerical discipline.
- Proven Leadership Track Record: Experience as a Second in Department, Lead Practitioner, or an existing Head of Department looking for a new challenge in a larger setting.
- Data Literacy: The ability to dissect complex performance data to identify trends and drive departmental improvement.
