We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Decontamination Engineer to join our essential Sterile Services team at a busy hospital in Portsmouth.
In this critical role, you will be responsible for the maintenance, validation, and repair of all decontamination equipment, including washer-disinfectors, autoclaves, and sterilizers. Your work is crucial to ensuring that all medical instruments are sterile and safe for patient use, directly supporting infection control and patient safety throughout the hospital.
What You'll Be Doing:
Performing scheduled preventative maintenance (PPM) and validation testing (VTM) on all decontamination equipment in line with HTM guidelines.
Responding promptly to equipment breakdowns and carrying out effective repairs to minimise downtime.
Maintaining accurate service records and documentation.
Working closely with the Sterile Services team to ensure a seamless workflow.
Adhering to strict health and safety and infection control protocols.
Operating on a rotating shift pattern to provide comprehensive cover for the hospital's needs.
Who We're Looking For:
Proven experience as a Decontamination Engineer, ideally within a hospital or healthcare environment.
Relevant qualifications (e.g., WTM 2/3, STM 2/3) are highly desirable.
Strong technical knowledge of autoclaves, washer-disinfectors, and associated equipment.
A meticulous and detail-oriented approach to your work.
The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Flexibility to work on a shift rota (including potential evenings/weekends).
