The Role:
As a Design and Technology Teacher, you will be responsible for delivering engaging and effective lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4. You will play a key role in developing and delivering a dynamic curriculum that inspires students and equips them with essential design thinking, practical workshop skills, and an understanding of new and emerging technologies. A specialism in Resistant Materials would be advantageous, and experience or an interest in other areas such as Food Technology or Product Design would also be welcomed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality, differentiated lessons in Design and Technology.
- Inspire and motivate students to develop their creativity, technical skills, and problem-solving abilities.
- Contribute to the ongoing development of the DT curriculum, ensuring it is relevant, engaging, and meets a diverse range of student needs.
- Assess, monitor, and report on student progress, providing constructive feedback to support their learning and development.
- Ensure a safe and stimulating workshop and classroom environment, promoting best practices in health and safety.
- Collaborate effectively with colleagues within the department and across the wider school community.
- Participate in and contribute to the school's co-curricular programme and departmental activities.
We are looking for a candidate who:
- Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
- Has a genuine passion for Design and Technology and a strong understanding of the design process.
- Possesses excellent subject knowledge and practical skills, ideally with a strength in Resistant Materials.
- Can inspire and engage students of all abilities.
- Has strong classroom management skills and the ability to create a positive and inclusive learning environment.
- Is a collaborative team player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Is committed to their own professional development and to fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
