DT Teacher Wanted in Liverpool!
A local secondary school in Liverpool is looking for a hands-on DT Teacher to join their department. Whether your expertise is in Resistant Materials, Product Design, or Engineering, the school needs someone who can hit the ground running in the workshop.
This is a great opportunity for an ECT or an experienced teacher looking for a stable long-term role.
What we need from you:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent (mandatory).
- An up-to-date Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).
- Strong communication skills and a knowledge of the subject.
Key Duties:
- Deliver pre-planned lessons that balance design theory with hands-on making.
- Set out all tools and materials safely before the first bell rings.
- Lead practical demos on how to use workshop machinery and hand tools.
- Manage classroom behaviour strictly to ensure everyone stays safe in the workshop.
- Ensure all students remain on task and make progress on their practical projects.
- Register attendance accurately at the start of every single lesson.
- Collect completed projects and portfolios for marking and assessment.
- Provide brief handover notes on student progress and equipment maintenance.
- Supervise students during workshop transitions or break times when required.
- Follow all Health & Safety and safeguarding procedures without exception.
- Support students individually as they build, cut, and create their designs.
