Key Responsibilities
As a Supplier Development Engineer, your daily routine will involve driving quality and process improvements across the supply chain:
- Supplier Relationship Management: You will work closely with suppliers to develop strong relationships and ensure they are proactively closing process gaps to improve quality.
- Process Auditing & Monitoring: You will conduct process audits to identify improvement opportunities and ensure robust controls are in place to prevent nonconformities.
- New Product Introduction (NPI): You will lead the implementation of quality deliverables for NPI projects and review supplier proposals for processing new items.
- Technical Support: You will assist suppliers with Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) and CPPD activities, including feasibility studies and project planning.
- Quality Assurance: Your role includes ensuring PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) completion and approval before new parts are delivered.
- Problem Solving: You will facilitate 8D permanent corrective action plans and work with suppliers to identify root causes for quality issues.
- Performance Metrics: You will participate in the development of supplier quality metrics and Performance Management Reviews (SPM).
Travel Requirements
- This role offers the chance to engage directly with partners across various regions
- Frequency: Expect to travel approximately 2 to 3 times per month.
- Territory: Travel includes locations across the UK and Europe.
- Typical Destinations: Common travel sites include France, Germany, Hungary, Poland, Belgium, and Northern Ireland.
Ideal Candidate Profile
The successful candidate will be a proactive problem-solver with a keen eye for detail. You should be comfortable challenging supplier data, such as OEE (Operational Equipment Efficiency) and RCCP (Rough Cut Capacity), to ensure total accuracy and adherence to the manufacturer's expectations. You will also deploy Lean Processes to maintain high standards of "Built-in Quality" throughout the supplier network.
