Randstad Education is currently seeking a fully qualified DT Teacher to join an ambitious secondary school in Peterborough. You will join a well-resourced Design Technology department equipped with modern machinery, tools, and digital design software, working alongside colleagues who collaborate closely to make practical learning safe, engaging, and inspiring.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver Practical DT Lessons: As an impactful DT Teacher, you will plan and deliver engaging, hands-on Design & Technology lessons across KS3 and KS4 (GCSE), spanning product design, resistant materials, and graphics.
- Full Curriculum Ownership: Take full responsibility for class preparation, workshop demonstrations, ongoing pupil assessment, and GCSE portfolio moderation.
- Workshop Safety & Management: Maintain strict health and safety standards across workshop spaces, ensuring machinery and tools are operated responsibly by all students.
- Foster Creative Confidence: Guide pupils through the complete design process-from initial sketches and computer-aided design (CAD) to physical prototyping and evaluation.
- Departmental Contribution: Collaborate with departmental peers to update project schemes of work, manage materials inventory, and support extra-curricular design clubs.
Candidate Profile
We are searching for a practical, skilled DT Teacher with strong subject knowledge and outstanding classroom leadership.
- Must hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or QTLS.
- Proven track record of working as a DT Teacher within a UK secondary school workshop setting.
- Full Right to Work in the UK (this specific role unfortunately cannot provide visa sponsorship).
- Up-to-date knowledge of workshop health and safety protocols (DATA accreditation is highly desirable).
- Holds an Enhanced DBS check on the Update Service (or a willingness to process one through Randstad).
