About the Role
This is a vital, hands-on position within the high-achieving Engineering and Design & Technology departments at a school in Leeds. Focusing specifically on Resistant Materials and Engineering manufacture, the successful candidate will be the heartbeat of our specialist workshops. You will ensure that industrial-grade machinery, precision tools, and materials are prepared for students to use safely and effectively as they work on real-world employer projects.
This role is a full-time,position starting ASAP. It requires someone with a keen eye for detail, a proactive approach to equipment maintenance, and a genuine desire to support the next generation of engineers and creators.

Requirements
...- Experience: Previous experience working in a workshop environment (industrial, manufacturing, or educational).
- Compliance: A strong understanding of Health & Safety legislation and COSHH.
- Eligibility: Must have the right to work in the UK.
- Safeguarding: Enhanced Child DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply for one).
Desirable Skills
- Expertise in woodworking, metalwork, and manual machining (lathes/milling).
- Knowledge of CAD/CAM software (e.g., SolidWorks, Autodesk).
- Ability to perform basic electrical or mechanical maintenance on industrial tools.
- Understanding of 3D printing technology and CNC operation.
- First Aid qualification.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and provide high-quality materials and equipment for specialist engineering and DT lessons.
- Clean, calibrate, and repair workshop machinery (CNC machines, lathes, band saws, etc.).
- Ensure all tools are sharpened, organised, and stored according to industrial standards.
- Conduct regular health and safety inspections and maintain rigorous, audit-ready records.
- Support teachers and students during practical sessions to ensure safe technique and professional standards.
- Manage stock levels of metals, woods, and polymers within a set budget.
- Safely dispose of hazardous waste materials according to COSHH regulations.
- Assist with the setup and operation of laser cutters, 3D printers, and robotic equipment.
