Randstad Education is currently seeking a dedicated English Teacher to join a supportive secondary school in the Thetford area. Whether you are an experienced English Teacher seeking a fresh environment in Norfolk or an ambitious Early Career English Teacher looking to build strong roots, this position provides a brilliant platform to share your literary expertise.
Due to the location of the school and the limited local public transport links in the area, being a driver with access to a personal vehicle is highly recommended for a smooth daily commute.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver Inspiring Lessons: As an impactful English Teacher, you will plan and deliver engaging English Language and Literature lessons across KS3 and KS4 (GCSE) aligned with the UK National Curriculum.
- Full Curriculum Ownership: Take full charge of class preparation, constructive essay marking, tracking student attainment, and preparing pupils for GCSE assessments.
- Foster Literacy & Communication: Create an inclusive classroom environment where students feel confident analyzing texts, evaluating themes, and sharpening written skills.
- Differentiated Instruction: Adapt teaching methods to stretch high achievers while providing structured support for pupils building foundational literacy.
- Departmental Collaboration: Work closely with humanities and English colleagues to share schemes of work, align resources, and support extracurricular literacy initiatives.
Candidate Profile
We are searching for an articulate, reliable English Teacher with strong subject knowledge and clear classroom leadership.
- Mandatory Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or QTLS.
- Mandatory Right to Work in the UK - Please note that our partner schools are unable to offer visa sponsorship for this role; applicants must already hold valid UK working rights.
- Ideally a driver with a personal vehicle, as local public transport links to the school are limited.
- Proven track record of working as an English Teacher within a UK secondary school setting.
- Holds an Enhanced DBS check on the Update Service (or readiness to process one through Randstad).
