We are seeking a passionate and creative English Teacher to join one of our secondary schools in Birmingham. We need someone who has a genuine, contagious enthusiasm for literature, language, and writing that truly inspires students.
We're looking for a teacher who can:
Be Creative: Design lessons that make challenging texts, from poetry and Shakespeare to historical literature, relevant to modern student lives.
Manage the Classroom: Facilitate lively, text-based discussions while maintaining an orderly and focused learning environment.

Your Role and Responsibilities
The successful candidate will perform the professional duties of a teacher under the direction of the Head of English, focusing on both academic achievement and pastoral care.
Core Teaching & Planning:
Curriculum Delivery: Plan and deliver engaging lessons across Key Stages 3, 4, and 5 (where applicable), ensuring full curriculum coverage.
Assessment & Feedback: Set, mark, and provide timely, constructive written and verbal feedback to actively move student learning forward.
Differentiation: Adapt resources and teaching methods to meet the diverse needs of all learners, including those with SEND and high-achieving students.
Literacy Promotion: Actively champion high standards of literacy and promote a genuine love of reading among all pupils.
Department & Pastoral Contribution:
Data & Progress: Monitor and track student attainment, intervening promptly where necessary.
Collaboration: Participate actively in departmental meetings, training, and whole-school professional development (CPD).
Extracurricular: Contribute to the school's enrichment program, potentially running clubs related to debating or creative writing.
Form Tutor: Serve as a dedicated Form Tutor, overseeing the academic, emotional, and social development of your students.
Safeguarding: Adhere strictly to all policies related to safeguarding and child protection.
Essential Requirements
The successful candidate must have:
The necessary qualifications for this role (QTS or equivalent).
Experience teaching English to a high standard.
An enhanced DBS certificate on the update service or a willingness to apply for one.
The legal right to work in the UK.
