We are seeking a dedicated English Specialist (QTS) for local secondary schools across Plymouth. Whether you want the freedom of day-to-day supply cover or are looking for your next long-term role paid to scale, this position offers competitive daily rates, predictable hours, and strong local support.
Key Responsibilities- English Teaching: Deliver high-quality English Language and Literature lessons across KS3 and KS4.
- General Cover: Provide flexible classroom cover across other subject areas on daily supply bookings to support school operations.
- Classroom Management: Maintain a positive, focused, and safe learning environment using effective behaviour management strategies.
- Long-Term Expectations: For long-term placements, take responsibility for full planning, marking, and student progress tracking (paid to scale).
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or QTLS (Early Career Teachers / ECTs encouraged to apply).
- Specialist knowledge of the UK English curriculum.
- Flexibility to deliver general cover lessons when required.
- Valid Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
- Strong communication skills and adaptable classroom management.
- Fair & Competitive Pay: Earn £130-£160/day for daily cover, or full scale pay (MPS/UPS) for long-term teaching assignments.
- Great Work-Life Balance: 8:30 am - 3:30 pm standard timetable; leave work at the door on daily cover days.
