We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Qualified English Teacher to join a well regarded Secondary School in Thetford. This is an excellent opportunity for a talented Teacher to deliver engaging and thought-provoking lessons across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4. You will be instrumental in nurturing our students' literacy skills, critical thinking, and confidence in expressing themselves.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and deliver stimulating English lessons that cover a broad range of literature, non-fiction texts, and creative writing for students in Years 7 to 11.
- Assess student work accurately and provide timely, constructive feedback to support their academic growth.
- Cultivate a positive and inclusive classroom atmosphere where students feel confident to share their ideas and explore different perspectives.
- Work collaboratively with your colleagues in the English department to share resources, plan curriculum content, and contribute to departmental goals.
- Engage with the wider school community by participating in school events and extra-curricular activities related to English and literacy.
- Maintain open and effective communication with parents and guardians to discuss student progress and well-being.
Requirements
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is a must.
- A degree in English or a closely related field.
- Experience teaching English at the secondary level, preparing students for GCSE exams.
- A strong understanding of the National Curriculum for English and a passion for your subject.
- The ability to adapt your teaching style to meet the diverse needs of all students.
- Effective classroom management skills and a proactive, encouraging approach.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, along with a strong ability to work as part of a team.
- A Child DBS on the update service (or willingness to obtain one).
