About the Role:
Are you an experienced and passionate Children's Social Worker looking to make a genuine impact on the lives of children and young people?
Herefordshire Council is seeking a dedicated Social Worker to join our countywide Kinship team. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of our journey as we continue to invest in our staff and improve outcomes for families.
In this vital role, you will be responsible for assessing Connected/Kinship Foster Carers and potential Special Guardians, as well as providing ongoing support and supervision to approved connected foster carers. You will collaborate with colleagues and services to enhance placement quality, stability, and support for caregivers. Our Kinship team is a specialist unit within our broader fostering service, also covering private fostering and offering ongoing support to Special Guardians post-order. We are a dedicated team, committed to ensuring Kinship carers receive the support and recognition they deserve.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct complex assessments for Court/Foster Panel.
- Provide analytical and comprehensive reports within set timescales.
- Collaborate with colleagues and services to enhance placement quality and stability.
- Understand and adhere to regulatory requirements in relation to Kinship care.
What We're Looking For
- A fully qualified Social Worker (SW Degree, DipSW, or equivalent).
- A minimum of 3 years' recent experience in a statutory setting, preferably within Kinship & Fostering.
- Prior experience in Children's Services, preferably in Kinship or Fostering.
- Expertise in conducting complex assessments and a strong background in safeguarding.
- Registration with Social Work England.
- A full driving licence with access to a car.
