Team: Locum Social Worker - Fostering Team
Role : Full Time
Contract Length: 3 months, with potential for extension up to 6 months.
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Social Worker to join our Fostering Team based in South Kendal, Cumbria. This is a fantastic opportunity to support children and foster families, playing a vital role in ensuring the best possible outcomes for children in care. Previous fostering experience is not essential.
About the Role and Responsibilities:
- Supporting Foster Families: Provide direct support and guidance to foster families, building positive relationships and ensuring they receive the resources and training they need.
- Developing Care Plans: Collaborate with foster families, children, and other professionals to develop individualised care plans for children in foster care, ensuring their needs are met and they thrive.
- Managing Caseloads: Manage a caseload of foster families, ensuring their needs are met, and that children in their care are receiving the appropriate support.
- Promoting Positive Relationships: Work with birth families to facilitate positive contact between children in care and their birth families, where appropriate.
- Maintaining Accurate Records: Maintain accurate records and documentation, adhering to relevant legislation and guidelines.
- Participating in Team Development: Contribute to the ongoing development and improvement of the team's service delivery.
- Advocating for Children: Represent the needs of children in care, ensuring their voices are heard and their rights are protected.
- Collaborative Practice: Work collaboratively with foster families, children, and other professionals, including schools, health services, and the police, to deliver effective and timely interventions.
- Providing Expertise and Guidance: Offer information, advice, and support to foster families on a range of topics related to child development, parenting, and accessing resources.
Key Requirements:
- Qualified Social Worker (DipSW, CQSW, BA Hons in Social Work, or equivalent).
- Social Care England registration.
- Updated DBS check.
- Experience working within a fostering service or with children in need and child protection.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage competing demands.
- Commitment to child-centered practice and a commitment to improving the lives of vulnerable children and families.
