Bury St Edmunds
Are you an inspiring Geography teacher with the power to connect classroom learning to the pressing environmental and geopolitical issues of our time?
Can you captivate young minds with the complexities of tectonic hazards, urban regeneration, and climate change?
If you are looking for a full-time, temporary placement in the historic town of Bury St Edmunds, Randstad Education wants to hear from you.

This role offers an immediate start and is perfect for an experienced practitioner seeking premium daily rates without long-term permanent commitments, or an ambitious ECT looking to build their portfolio within a highly collaborative department.
Your Responsibilities
- Curriculum Excellence: Plan and deliver high-quality physical and human Geography lessons across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, fostering deep global awareness.
- GCSE Preparation: Guide Year 11 cohorts through their exam specifications, utilising data-driven interventions and sharp exam-technique coaching to maximise student outcomes.
- Enquiry-Based Learning: Drive critical thinking by teaching students how to analyse geographical data, interpret GIS maps, and evaluate complex environmental case studies.
- Inclusive Adaptive Teaching: Tailor resources to ensure the curriculum is accessible to lower-attaining pupils and students with SEN, while providing challenging extensions for high-flyers.
- Fieldwork & Practical Application: Support the department in developing students' practical geographical skills, including data collection and localised environmental analysis.
- Classroom & Marks Management: Maintain an organised, focused learning environment and keep up-to-date marking and student progress records in line with school policies.
What You'll Bring to the Team
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) / QTLS: Mandatory. A degree in Geography, Environmental Science, or a closely related discipline.
- Agency-Ready Adaptability: The professional confidence to step seamlessly into a new department and capably manage a full-time teaching timetable.
- Strong Specification Knowledge: A thorough understanding of the current UK National Curriculum and standard GCSE exam specifications (e.g., AQA, Edexcel).
- Passion for the Planet: A genuine enthusiasm for geographical inquiry that inspires young people to consider their roles as global citizens.
- Compliance: An enhanced Child DBS on the Update Service (or a willingness to process a new one via Randstad).
