We're partnering with a 'children's trust' in their search for a Head Of Finance to support their team and contribute to their financial strategy. This is a 3 month temporary role with scope to go permanent after, offering hybrid working and based in Oldbury. This role is paying up to£450 to £550 per day umbrella for the right candidate
About the Role
As the Head of Finance, you will have overall responsibility for managing all financial aspects of the organisation, including financial planning, forecasting, and reporting. You'll be a key advisor to senior leadership, playing a pivotal role in shaping the financial strategy to support long-term goals. This role offers a unique opportunity to combine financial expertise with purpose-driven impact in the children's services sector.
Key Responsibilities
... Lead the development and implementation of financial strategy, budgets, and forecasts.
Provide strategic financial advice to senior managers, including modelling, scenario planning, and risk analysis.
Ensure strong financial governance, compliance with statutory requirements, and robust internal controls.
Oversee timely and accurate financial reporting, including annual accounts and management information.
Identify cost-efficiency opportunities and drive improvements in financial performance.
Manage and develop the finance team, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and innovation.
Support operational teams with financial planning, budget management, and grant utilisation.
Lead on financial aspects of major projects and initiatives.
Represent finance at senior meetings and provide insight and challenge to support decision-making.
What We're Looking For
A qualified finance professional (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CIMA) with significant leadership experience.
Proven ability to manage financial strategy and reporting in complex organisations, ideally within the public or social care sector.
Strong commercial awareness and understanding of how finance drives service delivery.
Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, including experience advising non-financial audiences.
Experience working in a governance-driven environment with exposure to Board or executive-level reporting.
Knowledge of children's services or social care funding, grants, and regulatory compliance is highly desirable.
Ability to work under pressure, manage competing deadlines, and lead teams through change.
