Middlesbrough Council is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Head of Inclusion, Assessment and Review Service to lead our dedicated team. This is a pivotal role in shaping and delivering high-quality services for children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) across Middlesbrough.
In this role, you'll be responsible for overseeing the strategic development and operational delivery of our inclusion, assessment, and review processes. You will ensure that all children and young people receive timely and effective support, promoting their educational attainment and overall well-being.
Key Responsibilities:Lead and manage the Inclusion, Assessment, and Review Service, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and excellence.
Drive the strategic development of SEND provision, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and best practice.
Oversee the assessment process for children and young people with SEND, ensuring accurate and comprehensive evaluations.
Manage the annual review process for Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs), ensuring they are person-centred and outcome-focused.
Collaborate effectively with schools, parents, health professionals, and other agencies to ensure a coordinated approach to SEND provision.
Champion inclusive practices across all educational settings within Middlesbrough.
Provide expert advice and guidance to staff, parents, and stakeholders on all aspects of SEND.
Manage budgets and resources effectively to optimize service delivery.
A qualified and Social Work England registered professional with significant experience in a leadership role within SEND services.
Extensive knowledge of SEND legislation, policy, and practice.
Proven ability to lead, motivate, and develop a high-performing team.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
A strong commitment to improving outcomes for children and young people with SEND.
Demonstrable experience of multi-agency working and partnership development.
Enhanced DBS check (to be completed upon offer of employment).
Social Work England Registration is mandatory.
