A leading utilities company is seeking a skilled and experienced Health & Safety Manager to join their team in Rainham, Essex. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a vital role in the rail division, ensuring the safety of all operations.
You'll be responsible for overseeing the implementation of health and safety policies and procedures, acting as the designated "Responsible Person" for all HSQE (Health, Safety, Quality, and Environment) matters. Your main goal will be to drive a positive safety culture and ensure full compliance with legislative requirements and best practices across the business. You'll provide essential technical advice and support to field teams, supervisors, and managers, and be a key point of contact for all health and safety-related inquiries. This is a permanent position with a competitive salary.
Key Responsibilities
- Acting as the Responsible Person for health and safety, overseeing CDM 2015 duties.
- Managing and maintaining relevant certifications like ISO 9001 and 14001.
- Delivering HSQE inductions and providing ongoing safety training and mentoring.
- Leading accident investigations and producing reports.
- Conducting internal audits and site safety inspections.
- Maintaining a working knowledge of all HSE legislation.
Candidate Profile
We are looking for someone with at least two years of experience in a similar role. You must have experience in the utilities sector, particularly rail. A full driving license is essential, as you will be field-based and required to travel to different sites daily.
A NEBOSH Diploma, NVQ, or NCRQ certificate is desirable, and being a member of a professional body like IIRSM or IOSH is also a plus. You should be a strong communicator, able to build relationships and positively influence others to adopt a safe approach.
