The Opportunity
Are you a passionate educator looking to make a genuine difference in the lives of young people? We are excited to announce the opening of a brand-new SEND Secondary School in September 2025.
Located in the heart of Chaldon, Surrey, our school is designed specifically for students aged 11-16 who require support with social communication, emotional regulation, and sensory processing, typically associated with Autism. As part of our founding team, you will have the unique opportunity to help shape the culture and environment of this new setting from day one.
The Role
We are seeking a dedicated Teacher of History and Geography who is committed to delivering high-quality, personalised learning. Our students follow a broad curriculum aligned with the National Curriculum, but adapted to meet their individual interests, passions, and sensory needs.
You will work within a model of small class sizes, high levels of classroom support, and a dedicated multi-disciplinary intervention team, ensuring every student has "every opportunity to achieve."
While based at our main site in Chaldon, you will also have the opportunity to work at our satellite site in nearby Caterham when required.
Key Responsibilities
Curriculum Delivery: Develop and deliver engaging History and Geography lessons tailored to the educational, physical, and social needs of students with SEND.
Personalised Learning: Set, monitor, and review individual targets to optimise learning outcomes for every student.
Collaborative Practice: Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team, contributing to EHC plans, PEPs, and LAC reviews.
Progress Tracking: Maintain robust short, medium, and long-term plans; assess and report on student progress to parents and senior staff.
Supportive Environment: Use non-confrontational strategies to manage challenging behaviours and maintain a motivated, calm, and challenging learning environment.
Experience and Skills
The ideal candidate will be a resilient and reflective practitioner with a deep understanding of (or a strong desire to learn about) Autism and associated needs.
Requirements:
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS or QTLS) is preferred (Welcome bonus applicable).
Experience or a strong interest in working within a SEND environment.
The ability to plan and deliver a creative curriculum that engages students with social communication and emotional needs.
A collaborative mindset and the flexibility to "lend a hand" as we grow our new school community.
Why Join Us?
This is a rare chance to be part of a "start-up" educational environment backed by the stability of a leading national provider. We offer a competitive salary, a significant welcome bonus for qualified staff, and the professional reward of seeing a new school come to life.
