Permanent SEN Teacher : Transition into SEND HumanitiesRole: History & Geography Specialist (KS3/KS4)
Location: Chaldon, Surrey (Brand New Site Opened Sept 2025)
...
Salary: £34,398 - £48,913 + £5,000 Welcome Bonus
Are you a talented Humanities teacher feeling burnt out by massive class sizes and rigid data tracking? If you love your subject but want to spend more time actually teaching and less time managing a crowd of 30+, this is your "Day One" opportunity. We are building a team for a bespoke secondary school designed for students with Autism and unique sensory profiles.
Why Make the Move?
Transitioning from a mainstream setting to a specialist SEND school offers a level of professional fulfillment that is hard to find elsewhere:
Relationship-Led Teaching: Move away from "behavior management" and toward "behavior support." You'll work with small groups where you can actually get to know how every student's mind works.
Curriculum Freedom: As a founding member, you aren't just a cog in a machine. You will help decide how we teach History and Geography to make it "stick" for students with social communication needs.
A "Whole-School" Support Net: You are never on your own. You'll work daily alongside a multi-disciplinary team of therapists and experts who handle the heavy lifting of EHCPs and sensory support.
The Friday Bonus: Start your weekend early. We finish at 4:00 PM every Friday to ensure our staff stays as regulated and refreshed as our students.
What You'll Bring to the Team
You don't necessarily need years of SEND experience to apply-you need empathy, creativity, and subject passion.
The Architect Mindset: You'll deliver high-quality History and Geography lessons, adapting the National Curriculum into something tactile, visual, and accessible.
The Advocate: You'll play a key role in EHCP reviews, ensuring that a student's love for the world around them is recognised as a core part of their development.
The Calm in the Storm: You'll use non-confrontational, reflective techniques to support students when they feel overwhelmed.
Requirements
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is essential.
A genuine interest in specialising in Autism and Social Communication (we provide the training!).
A valid Driving License (our Chaldon site is beautiful but rural).
The resilience to see every challenge as a learning opportunity for your pupils.
