HLTA (Level 4) | Specialist SEN & SEMH Support

Are you a high-level practitioner ready to lead the way in a PRU?
We are seeking a tenacious, resilient, and highly organised High Level Teaching Assistant (Level 4) to take a lead role within a specialist Manchester setting. Reporting directly to the Student Services Manager, you will be a key driver in overcoming barriers to learning for pupils with complex SEMH and SEND needs.
This is more than a mentoring role; it is a leadership position designed for someone who can manage staff, influence curriculum delivery, and act as a pivotal link between senior management and the classroom.
The Role: Impact & Leadership
As a Senior Learning Mentor, you will:
Lead & Deploy: Manage a team of Learning Mentors, including line management, supervision, and performance procedures.
Deliver Interventions: Take the lead on whole-group sessions across diverse areas such as Literacy, Numeracy, Sport, Outdoor Education, and Therapeutic Interventions (Boxall/PASS).
Pastoral Excellence: Manage the supervision of pupils excluded from mainstream education, developing 1:1 mentoring arrangements and support plans.
Strategic Support: Assist teachers with the development of SEND/Behaviour support plans and provide objective reporting on pupil progress and achievement.
Bridging the Gap: Manage liaison with schools and external agencies to ensure a seamless transfer of pupil information and support.
What We Are Looking For:
Experience: Proven track record working with children/young people with complex SEND, communication difficulties, or severe behavioural challenges.
Qualifications: NVQ Level 3 for Teaching Assistants (or equivalent)
Technical Knowledge: Full working knowledge of the National Curriculum, safeguarding requirements (KCSIE), and behaviour management strategies.
Leadership Skills: Ability to plan, organise, and prioritise workloads while managing a dedicated team of support staff.
Adaptability: The flexibility to cover whole classes for short-term teacher absence, including planning and assessment.
