Location: Bracknell
Salary: £35,163 - £39,881 per annum (NJC Fringe Scale)
Contract: Permanent, Full-Time (37 hours per week)
Working Pattern: All Year Round (Mon-Thu 8:30-4:30, Fri 8:30-4:00)
The Opportunity
We are looking for a proactive and experienced HR Manager to lead the operational HR function within a local school. This is a brilliant opportunity for a professional who enjoys a stand-alone role but values the backing of a larger organisation. You will be the "go-to" person on-site, supported by an HR Administrator and reporting into a Regional HR Partner within a Multi-Academy Trust.
The Role
As the HR Manager, you will manage the entire employee lifecycle. Your expertise will ensure the school remains compliant, efficient, and a supportive environment for all staff.
Key Responsibilities include:
Compliance & Safeguarding: Leading on all safer recruitment vetting and maintaining a gold-standard Single Central Record (SCR) for Ofsted inspections.
Operational Excellence: Managing the end-to-end recruitment process, conducting staff inductions, and overseeing the School Workforce Census.
Employee Relations: Acting as a trusted advisor to line managers on policy, absence management, and performance, while maintaining positive relationships with Trade Unions.
Payroll & Pensions: Overseeing the monthly payroll returns and administering the Local Government (LGPS) and Teachers' Pension schemes.
Development: Coordinating staff training and the annual appraisal cycle to support professional growth across the school.
Who We Are Looking For
The successful candidate will be a confident HR practitioner with a strong understanding of employment law and, ideally, experience within an educational setting. You should be highly organised, detail-oriented (especially regarding GDPR and data retention), and possess the coaching skills necessary to develop the people-management capabilities of school leaders.
Benefits
Competitive Salary: £35,163 - £39,881 depending on experience.
Generous Leave: 26 days annual leave plus 2 extra-statutory days (plus bank holidays).
Pension: Access to the highly-regarded Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS).
Stability: A permanent, all-year-round position in a supportive Trust environment.
