The Role
Are you a seasoned Social Work professional with a passion for driving high standards in children's services? Northumberland is seeking a dedicated Independent Reviewing Officer to join our team in a dual-capacity role.
This position isn't just about oversight; it's about ensuring that every child in our care has a robust, ambitious, and child-centered care plan. You will bridge the gap between frontline practice and strategic quality assurance, acting as a critical friend to the service and a fierce advocate for the child.
Key Responsibilities
Child-Centered Reviews: Chairing statutory reviews for Looked After Children, ensuring their voices are at the heart of every decision.
Quality Assurance: Monitoring the local authority's performance as a corporate parent and identifying areas for systemic improvement.
Conflict Resolution: Effectively challenging practice where care plans are not progressing in the child's best interests.
Collaboration: Working closely with social workers, families, and partner agencies to ensure holistic support.
What We're Looking For
To be successful in this role, you must be a "practitioner's practitioner." We require:
Experience: A minimum of 5 years' frontline social work experience (CP/LAC/Court).
Qualifications: Social Work England registration and a recognized Social Work degree.
Insight: A deep understanding of the statutory framework and the ability to apply "Quality Assurance" lenses to complex cases.
Communication: The ability to engage children and young people meaningfully, making them feel heard and valued.
Why Join Northumberland?
Competitive Pay: A steady rate of £34.49 per hour.
Work-Life Balance: We offer flexible and hybrid working arrangements, allowing you to manage your caseload alongside your personal commitments.
Impact: A dual role that allows you to influence both individual outcomes for children and the broader quality of the service.
