Independent Reviewing Officer (IRO)
Location: West Cumbria (Official base: West Cumbria House, Workington)
Contract: 12 Months
Pay Rate: Approximately £41 per hour
Calling all experienced Independent Reviewing Officers! We have an urgent and exciting opportunity for a 12-month contract with Cumberland Council. We are actively seeking CVs for an IRO post based in the west of the county, with the official base at West Cumbria House in Workington.
This is a crucial role where you will champion the best interests of children in care. While some flexibility in work base may be available, the role requires you to be able to travel and attend in-person cared-for reviews and case conferences in the West Cumbria area.

Key responsibilities will include:
Chairing statutory reviews for children in care and case conferences.
Ensuring care plans are effectively promoting the child's welfare and development.
Monitoring the local authority's performance as a corporate parent.
Advocating for the child's voice and wishes to be heard throughout the care journey.
Essential Requirements:
Qualified Social Worker with a strong background in child protection and looked after children.
Demonstrable experience as an Independent Reviewing Officer.
A valid Social Work England registration.
Ability to travel and attend meetings in person across West Cumbria.
