The Project
We are currently seeking experienced Manufacturing Integration Engineers for a critical 12-month project in Plymouth.
This is a hands-on contracting role designed to drive the validation and vertical start-up of new equipment. You will be instrumental in bridging the gap between installation and full-scale production, ensuring that new CapEx integrations hit performance targets immediately.
Key Deliverables
Validation, Testing & Installation
Lead the development of test plans to verify functionality, process windows, and equipment reliability (FAT, SAT, Validation, and Commissioning).
Represent the engineering team at Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and Site Acceptance Tests (SAT).
Prepare detailed installation plans and ensure full validation of equipment.
Ensure all equipment conforms to Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) standards, international regulations, and company policies (Lock-out Tag-out, controls, guarding).
Integration & Start-Up
Own the integration of new equipment validation and vertical start-up into the existing manufacturing process.
Manage the ramp-up phase, providing technical assistance to maintain long-term capability, meet OEE targets, and drive Continuous Improvement (CI).
Minimize disruption to ongoing operations during equipment or software integration, addressing roadblocks rapidly.
Analyze and resolve gaps between anticipated and actual performance of new CapEx integration.
Process Optimization & Reliability
Develop "center lining" of equipment to optimize performance.
Coordinate existing tools and resources to support equipment maintenance programs and ensure reliability/up-time.
Diagnose and resolve integration issues, collaborating with engineering teams and vendors to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
Collaboration & Handover
Coordinate the handover to Operations, Maintenance, and Quality departments to ensure smooth production ramp-up.
Lead equipment documentation creation, data compilation, and handover (architecture diagrams, specifications, test reports).
Ensure training plans and competence assessments are completed for site staff on new equipment.
Facilitate alignment meetings with vendors and internal stakeholders to ensure specifications are met.
Required Skills & Experience
Background: Strong engineering background in manufacturing, specifically focusing on integration and NPI.
Technical: Extensive experience with FAT/SAT protocols, equipment validation, and process optimization.
Project Mindset: Ability to hit the ground running and manage integration schedules, resources, and timelines effectively.
Communication: Strong ability to coordinate between vendors, engineering teams, and operational staff.
